“Getting to know you” – getting to know all about you – was somehow hanging in the air, as we admired God given talents, displayed by seniors at our annual Seniors’ Luncheon on June 21, 2018.
Thanks to many Hope Lutheran Artists, there was stitchery, there was pottery, creations made lovingly from or with special words, including the Lord’s Prayer.
There were paintings, photography, special flowers grown by Norma, we admired homemade children’s books, crocheted and embroidered table covers, and beautiful painting china plates by Lorraine. Stories of the past neatly printed, and who would have guessed the delicate art of wedding cake decorating by Norm. There was even some tatting – an old, perhaps even forgotten art.
There was even a demonstration of how paper tole art comes together.
It was a most enjoyable sharing and admiring and getting to know people on a whole different level. There was joy!
All this and a very delicious lunch – the cooking of burgers and smokies, planned and prepared by Jane, Zena and Mike. Seniors brought the salads.
A homemade most delicious dessert complete with the recipe was served. Thanks to Regula and Christian’s homegrown special and beautiful flowers decorated each table. There was laughter and joy.
How lucky we are at Hope Lutheran Church, Calgary to have such a beautiful building; to have Pastor Kristian, who missed this event – not planned; to have Jane, Zena and Mike, who so very often go the extra mile or more, yet always tell us they don’t mind.
How blessed I feel to be part of this my Church family. God’s blessings to us all.
P.S. Thanks for the new PA system for those of us with hearing aids – it makes a real difference.
