Saturday, December 21st 7:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church

You are invited to join us this night for a reflective evening service of word and prayer and lighting candles of remembrance.

In the Northern Hemisphere, December 21 is the longest night, marking the shortest day of the year and the official start of winter. Tradition says that nature and all her creatures stop and hold their breath to see if the sun will turn back from its wanderings, if the days will lengthen and the earth will once again feel the sun’s warmth. On this darkest day of the year, we come with our honest yearnings seeking the return of light and hope.

The Christmas season is a time when we think of loved ones who have passed away. We invite you to bring an ornament into the church to put on our Christmas tree in our sanctuary. Feel free to attach a ribbon with that person’s name or a message for that person. If you would like that ornament back, please speak with Zena. You may add this ornament to the tree anytime. If you’d prefer, there will an opportunity to add your ornament to the tree during the Longest Night service on December 21st.
