Ruth Lillian Wagner was born in Edmonton and grew up on a farm outside Stony Plain. She attended a country school, then boarded in Stony Plain for high school. She graduated in 1949 and then worked in Edmonton for GWG. She and Don Larson married in 1950. They spent the next 19 years moving and living in small towns, including Rocky Mountain House, Valleyview, Medicine Hat, Olds, and Fort St. John. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses. Ruth and Don settled in the pink house on Northmount Drive in 1969, where she lived until her 86th birthday. Ruth passed away at Southwood Hospice three days after her birthday.   Ruth was an active member of the Order of the Royal Purple, Association of Oil Wives Canada, Red Hatters, and West Hillhurst Go-Getters. She volunteered for the Cancer Centre, Meals on Wheels, and other organizations. She was an active long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church.   Ruth was an avid traveller and visited places such as Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, USA, Mexico, and all parts of Canada. Throughout her life she remained in contact with friends that she met in the places she lived and where she travelled. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.   Ruth’s family was very important to her. On holidays, the table was always filled with good food and surrounded by family. There were many summer vacations with family at the lake, and winter vacations with family in warm places. Ruth encouraged her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to be hard workers and to be kind to others.   Ruth is lovingly remembered by her children: Ric (Carol) Larson, Sherri (Rod) Gussman, Bev (Jay) Henkel, Robin Larson, and Kathy Besserer; grandchildren Jennifer, Sam, Stacy, Jayson, Tamara, Jordon, Travis, Alana, Paige, Jesse, Chrissy, Jamie, Andrew, and Alysia; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Emma, Wil, James, Lily, Kate, May, Eva, Tyson, Reese, Seamus, Darian, and Carter. Ruth is survived by her brothers Melvin Wagner, and Harvey (Sylvia) Wagner. She was predeceased by her husband Don and son Randy.
