We all have a story or two to share; at Hope we want to encourage our younger members to learn yours! "Stories of Hope" – is a special project which will involve our confirmation students and SS children (with the help of their parents) and our more experienced Hope family members. The goal of this project is to have our younger members interview our older members. Information from these interviews will then be compiled onto a “Stories of Hope” bulletin board and maybe even a little booklet. This is a big idea! It will require time and commitment from those involved but we think it will be a rewarding project.
* We looking for seniors to participate. Please contact Zena coordinator@hopelutheran.ca or the church office by January 24 if interested.
* We are looking for youth to participate. Again, please contact Zena (this would be a great family project – in fact Sunday schoolers will need the help of a parent to write answers, arrange time for conversation; confirmation students – this is a great opportunity to get involved in your church community). There is also a sign-up sheet on the Nurturing Connections Wall.
Once we have a list of interested participants, students and seniors will then be paired up. A casual meeting time will be arranged between senior and youth to hold an interview/ chat – these visits might be done during Fellowship on Sunday, or perhaps the youth & their family will invite senior to their home, etc. Participants will be provided with suggestions for topics to be discussed to encourage conversation. The deadline for this interview to be done is the end of February so that we can put the information together.
We have a vision of this project being a great way to Nurture Connections between church family members. It won’t be a long or troublesome effort – we hope you will consider participating.
